It’s been a busy week over here at Chasing Sound HQ. In addition to this week’s issue of 6SSC, I also put out the seventh edition of the subs only update. This time I did it all in audio rather than text, and I had a blast doing so. I talk about going down a rabbit hole with the CAGED system, and some guitar-centric takeaways I got after reading Tiago Forte’s book “Building A Second Brain”.

It’s been a quieter week this week in the guitar world, but I still have some fun links to share with you. Here we go!

- MASTER Hybrid Picking TODAY! - If you already have a solid grasp on alternate picking, it's worth your time to try and learn something different. Economy picking, hybrid picking, etc. Ben Eller recently put out a great video on how you can incorporate hybrid picking into your playing. You'd be floored at some of the amazing licks you can pull off when utilizing both your fingers and a pick.

- The Story Behind My "Rick Beato Signature Gibson Les Paul Special DC" - Rick Beato's signature is finally here. I really enjoy a lot of Rick's videos, and I think this is a beautiful looking guitar. I'm just wondering who the target market for this guitar is? Would you pick this axe up?

- Alyssa Day - Dread & Dream (Official Music Video) - Speaking of new gear, it seems everyone has been playing the new Jackson models, including Alyssa Day. In this video for "Dread & Dream”, she shows off some killer licks. I loved everything about this video...well, except all the snakes.

- Brother O Brother SKIN WALKER "Guitar Pedal" LP's via Romanus Records & A.D.D. Pedals - In something that truly has to be seen to be understood, check out this new video where you have two guitar pedals, built into vinyl, that are also playable on a record player. What will they think of next?

- Joe Satriani: “You’re not going to sell out theaters or get a billion streams with finger exercises” - Satch talks about the place of finger/scale exercises in your practice regimen, and how to be mindful about them. After you're done doing these for a set time, focus on playing actual music! Later in the week, Satch gave Guitar Player his top 10 tips for guitarists. There's some great advice in that post.

- I Should Have Done This Sooner (5 Step Guitar Setup) - Rhett Shull shows us a straight ahead way to set up your guitar. It's good to start learning all the steps is takes to make your guitar play well. Over time you'll be able to develop a system like Rhett has done in this vid.

- Wildwood and Greg Koch's Guitar Tip • Pedal Steel Tricks ft. a Fender Wildwood 10 '62 Telecaster - I'm so happy that Greg Koch is still doing his Wildwood Guitar Tip. His latest is a quick vid on how to do pedal steel style bends. Plus I'm in love with the '62 Tele he's playing.

- 5 cutting-edge prog guitar licks you need to learn - Players like Plini, Misha Mansoor, and Tim Henson are breathing new life into some very cool guitar ideas. Guitar World gives us 5 licks in the style of some of these newer prog players to get under our fingers.
